Summary: Students will be exposed to five different propaganda techniques.  This lesson will allow students to critique different samples to become better consumers.  This lesson involves an activity that allows the students to create their own propaganda advertisement.

Understandings: Students will have a better understanding of propaganda techniques and how they influence consumers and elections.

 

Essential Questions: How can knowledge of commercial propaganda techniques help students become better consumers?  How can knowledge of political propaganda help students understand campaign advertisement?

 

Knowledge & Skills: Students will recognize the difference in propaganda techniques.  Students will understand the propaganda message.  The students will be able to recognize the target audience.

Learning Activities: Create an advertisement poster that includes a propaganda technique, instructor power point presentation, reading assignment Beacons Text; pp41-47, Beacons workbook Unit 3 Lesson 3; pp 47-49.
